An aluminium can is one of the best containers for wine; it is lightweight, simple to transport and easily recyclable. There are also no flavour differences between a can and a bottle. With no light or air exposure it should last longer too!
In African mythology, elephants symbolise social connection and harmony. In the same way, our Vinette wines bring people together to enjoy life and special occasions.
The Vinette elephant is inspired by the story of Benny the Elephant, a male bull resident of the Elephants Sands lodge and campsite in Botswana. Benny sought human aid during a critical period of drought - seeking a water-source and medical care to heal a severe foot wound.
Benny the elephant represents the indomitable and powerful spirit of Africa and it’s people – the doers, champions and innovators. Those that love laughter, and love life!
Elephants are also known to have distinctive personalities and are extremely playful animals. They have incredible memories and take care of their own. Vinette celebrates this characteristic sense of individualism (such as Benny’s unique spirit) that combines seamlessly with sociability, loyalty and fun. We represent a spirit of revelling in life, and of making and treasuring memories with friends and family.
Vinette embodies special connections that are formed when people come together. The name is derived from the word ‘Vignette’ - a reference to an evocative moment. It also subtly alludes to wine that is offered in an accessible way, making it perfect for those on-the move or seeking adventure. Our choice of packaging in an aluminium can has a strong motivating factor, as this is one of the most recyclable materials on the market. Our sustainable wine range is perfect for those wishing to conserve our earth, while sipping on their favourite wine.
Vinette has been awarded the world-renown Gold Medal by the 'Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge'. Vinette products have increasingly gained popularity and now also have a global footprint, with availability in the Americas, Europe and Africa.

Homegrown convenience store uMart is the first retailer in Singapore to sell Vinette Wines – in a can. Observing a general staleness in the convenience store/retail scene and a change in consumers' purchasing behaviour, uMart has continued expanding its selection of local and international snacks and beverages. In addition to the range of bottled and craft beers found in uMart stores, these canned wines from South Africa are new products that uMart's management hopes consumers will come to like.
